Virginia Assistive Technology System (VATS)

VATS is dedicated to helping disabled Virginia residents acquire the assistive technology they need to actively participate in society. Assistive technology ranges from wheelchair vans to stair lifts to small and not-so-small devices for use in the home and at work.

Virginia Association of Area Agencies on Aging (VAAAA)

VAAAA serves the elderly in Virginia, assisting them in meeting mobility and other needs that come with the aging process. Offices are spread all around the state, serving particular counties.

Virginia Board for People with Disabilities

This is the state branch of the national Developmental Disabilities Council. It is devoted to making the Commonwealth of Virginia the best possible place for persons with developmental disabilities. It gives grants to bodies, not to individuals, but it can assist you in locating sources of funding for your handicap van.

Virginia Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS)

Virginia’s DARS helps older and disabled state residents find and hold down gainful employment. Virginia Department of Veterans Services (DVS)

Disabled veterans who live in Virginia can receive grants for a handicapped-accessible vehicle through their state’s DVS, along with other types of assistance. You likely qualify for financial aid for mobility and other purposes if your disability resulted from active duty or during care from the VA.
